Holidaymakers traveling across Greece for the Easter holidays are being greeted with generally favorable weather. Conditions are expected to improve as the holiday period progresses. While some regions will experience brief spells of rain, particularly on Good Friday and Holy Saturday, overall, the weather will be mild and pleasant, making it ideal for outdoor activities.
Good Friday: Mild with Local Showers
On Good Friday, local showers are expected in eastern Macedonia and Thrace, parts of the central and eastern Peloponnese, mountainous areas of central mainland Greece, central Evia, and with a slight chance in Attica.
By the evening, when traditional religious processions take place, rainfall will largely ease across the country. Only isolated, light showers are expected in northern Evros, Xanthi, and possibly northern Evia, while skies will remain partly cloudy.
Temperatures will be slightly lower:
- Northern Greece: 14–19°C
- Rest of mainland: 20–21°C
- Aegean islands: 16–20°C
Holy Saturday: Peak of Unsettled Weather
The most unsettled weather of the Easter period is expected on Holy Saturday with scattered showers across central and eastern Macedonia and Thrace, mountainous areas of Pella, Pieria, and Imathia, eastern Larissa, Pelion, Evia, central mainland Greece, eastern and northeastern Peloponnese, and mountainous parts of Crete. A slight chance of rain remains in Attica.
During the evening Resurrection services, rain is more likely in central and eastern Macedonia and the Sporades. Cities such as Thessaloniki, Kavala, Drama, Xanthi, Serres, and parts of Halkidiki may see showers.
Temperatures will range:
- North: 15–20°C
- Mainland and Ionian islands: 20–22°C
- Aegean: 17–20°C
Easter Sunday: Warmer and Improving
Weather conditions improve significantly on Easter Sunday, with more sunshine and rising temperatures across most of Greece. Only limited, localized showers are expected, mainly in central and eastern Macedonia.
A small chance of rain remains in mountainous areas of eastern Thessaly, eastern mainland Greece (including Attica), Evia, and eastern Peloponnese.
Temperatures will increase to:
- North: 18–24°C
- Central and southern regions: 22–26°C
- Islands: 20–24°C
These conditions are especially favorable for outdoor Easter traditions and gatherings.
Easter Monday: Warm with Increasing Clouds
On Easter Monday, brief showers are expected in eastern mainland areas. Elsewhere, skies will start mostly clear but will gradually become cloudier from the southwest, bringing light rain to parts of the mainland and later to the southern Aegean by evening.
Winds will be moderate to strong:
- Western Greece: easterly to southeasterly winds at 4–6 Beaufort, locally up to 7 in the Ionian
- Eastern Greece: easterly winds at 3–5 Beaufort, reaching up to 6 in the Aegean
Temperatures will continue to rise, particularly in western and southern Greece, reaching above-average levels for the season.
