A serious accident took place on Tuesday at a supermarket in Ilisia, a district of Athens, when an elevator collapsed, seriously injuring a man who was inside performing maintenance work.
The incident occurred at a store on Theodamantos Street. According to initial reports, the injured individual is believed to be the elevator technician carrying out routine repairs at the time of the collapse.
Firefighters were immediately dispatched to the scene and successfully rescued the man from the elevator. He was then taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital, where he is receiving urgent medical treatment.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the accident, though details are not yet clear. The supermarket remains open to updates as the inquiry continues.
