A harrowing investigation is underway in Palaio Faliro, a coastal suburb of Athens, after the body of a three-year-old girl was found under suspicious circumstances. Authorities are now seriously considering the possibility of homicide, as new details emerge about the child’s condition.
The Homicide Division of the Attica Security Police has taken over the case and is conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the girl’s death.
Forensic Findings Raise Alarming Questions
According to the coroner’s report, the child had multiple visible injuries, including bruises on her forehead, lips, and nose, trauma to both knees, and a significant blow to her right shoulder. The report also indicated that the girl had only been in the water for a few hours before being found.
Further chilling information was revealed by crime journalist Vassilis Lambropoulos, who noted that the girl was extremely emaciated, suggesting prolonged abuse or severe neglect.
Authorities are also exploring the possibility that the child may have been thrown into the sea from a boat in an attempt to cover up a crime.
The Timeline of the Tragedy
The child’s body was recovered from the sea around 4 a.m. A 33-year-old Egyptian national called emergency services to report the discovery. Shockingly, there were no official records of the girl’s existence—no missing persons report, no birth registration, no prior information of any kind.
Public Appeal from the Coast Guard
In a public statement, the Hellenic Coast Guard urged anyone who may have information about the child’s identity, her family, or any other detail that might assist the investigation to come forward.
They can contact the 1st Coast Guard Department of Floisvos at +30 210-9829759 or the Port Authority of Saronikos at +30 210-8946326. Authorities emphasized that even the smallest detail could prove crucial and assured full confidentiality for anyone providing information.
