Father–Son Rift Under Scrutiny in Murder Case

Investigators focus on family disputes, disputed assets, and alleged threats as testimony from the victim’s father and partner raises new questions in the murder of a 27-year-old man in western Greece

Greek authorities are intensifying their investigation into the murder of a 27-year-old man in Nea Peramos, with growing attention on a strained relationship between the victim and his father, disputes over inherited wealth, and alleged threats made before the killing.

Police consider the victim’s partner and father to be key witnesses. According to testimony already given by the partner, the relationship between father and son was marked by frequent arguments, largely centered on a significant inheritance the young man had received from his grandfather.

Disputes and Alleged Threats

The disagreements reportedly escalated in recent months. At one point, the father is said to have suspected his son of involvement in arson attacks targeting vehicles owned by his company. Relatives have also claimed that there are recorded audio messages in which the father allegedly threatened his son.

The father is now expected to give formal testimony to authorities as investigators examine these claims.

Contradictions in Partner’s Testimony

The victim’s partner has already given a lengthy statement but is expected to be recalled due to inconsistencies. She told investigators that her fiancé never expressed fear, did not mention receiving threats, and appeared calm in the period leading up to his abduction and killing.

She also stated that no ransom demand was ever made following the abduction. However, she described hearing the victim ring the doorbell in the early hours of January 26, shortly before he was taken—an action that does not appear in available video footage, raising further questions.

Possible Links to Earlier Crimes

Investigators from the homicide division are also examining whether the case is connected to two earlier violent incidents in the same wider region: the 2024 killing of a businessman and a fatal car crash two months later.

According to police sources, the man who died in the car crash had previously been under investigation for the earlier murder. The 27-year-old victim was reportedly sitting in the passenger seat during that crash, and the two men were known to have had business dealings.

More than a year later, the victim went on to establish a company that authorities believe may have effectively continued the operations of the earlier businessman’s firm.

Ongoing Investigation

Police are now seeking answers to critical questions: who the victim chose to work with, what he may have known about the 2024 murder, and whether he had received threats in the period before his death.

The father has claimed that his son had warned him he was in danger and urged family members to leave the area.
