Fire Near Residential Area in Paiania Sparks Emergency Response

Around 50 firefighters, supported by 15 fire trucks and volunteer responders, have been deployed to contain the blaze, with aerial support expected to arrive shortly

A wildfire broke out on Friday afternoon on Mount Boura, near the Argythea settlement located between Paiania and Spata in Eastern Attica, Greece. The fire is burning low vegetation close to a residential area, prompting urgent action from firefighting authorities.

According to the Fire Service, around 50 firefighters, including two specialized foot teams from the 1st EMODE unit, along with 15 fire trucks and volunteer responders, have been deployed to contain the blaze. Following a formal request, aerial support will arrive with two airplanes and four helicopters to assist in firefighting efforts.

Shortly before 7 p.m., authorities issued a 112 emergency alert urging residents in the area to remain alert and follow official instructions:
“Forest fire near the Boura Papangelakis settlement, Paiania, Regional Unit of Eastern Attica. Stay on alert and follow the instructions of the authorities.”

Firefighters are battling the flames in a dry and challenging terrain, focusing on preventing the fire from spreading to nearby residential zones and other vulnerable areas.
