Applications for the latest phase of the Fuel Pass 2026 subsidy program opened on April 9 for a new group of beneficiaries, but ongoing technical issues are complicating the process for many users.
Eligible applicants whose tax identification numbers end in 8, 9, or 0 can now submit their requests, as part of a staggered rollout designed to ease pressure on the system. However, despite these measures, the platform continues to experience significant disruptions.
Technical problems slow down applications
Users have reported persistent issues during the application process, particularly in receiving the required verification code needed to complete identity checks. In many cases, the system fails to send confirmation messages, effectively blocking access.
As a result, applicants are being redirected to Citizen Service Centers (KEP), where they can complete identity verification in person. This has led to increased foot traffic at these offices across the country.
The platform faced high demand from its launch, with heavy traffic causing system overloads. Although the application process was adjusted to operate based on the final digit of applicants’ tax numbers, difficulties remain widespread.
Over 800,000 applications submitted
So far, more than 800,000 applications have been submitted out of an estimated 3 million eligible beneficiaries. Those who applied earlier in the week have already begun receiving payments.
From April 10, the platform will be fully open to all applicants until April 30, regardless of tax number. Approved subsidies are expected to be credited within 48 hours.
Eligibility and application process
The Fuel Pass is available to individuals meeting specific income criteria, with thresholds set at €25,000 for single applicants and €35,000 for married couples, with additional allowances for dependents.
Applications are submitted online using personal tax credentials and require registration in the National Contact Register. Applicants must confirm their contact details and provide vehicle information before selecting their preferred payment method.
Subsidies can be received either through a digital debit card or direct bank deposit.
Subsidy amounts and conditions
The amount granted varies depending on the type of vehicle, region of residence, and payment method. Financial support ranges from €25 to €60 for the two-month period, with higher amounts available for residents in island or remote areas.
The digital card option offers slightly higher payouts and remains valid through July 31, 2026.
