Greece Weather Friday: Hot Temperatures and Dust in the Air

Friday will bring clear skies across Greece with very high temperatures in several regions. Local showers may occur in the west, while African dust is expected to affect parts of the Peloponnese, Central Greece, and Crete.

Friday’s weather in Greece will be mostly clear and hot, with sunshine dominating across the country. Some clouds will develop in the west and north, where local showers are possible in the Ionian Islands during the morning and again later in the evening over western mainland areas. Another key feature will be the transport of African dust, mainly affecting the Peloponnese, Central Greece, and Crete, which could cause hazy skies.

Temperatures will climb to summer highs, reaching 39°C in Thessaly, and even up to 40°C locally in Evia. Western Macedonia will see values between 17–32°C, while the rest of Macedonia and Thrace will range from 18–37°C. In Epirus, temperatures will be 19–34°C, and in Central Greece 20–36°C, with locally higher readings. The Peloponnese will record 21–37°C, while the Ionian Islands will stay milder at 19–32°C. The North and East Aegean Islands will see 17–36°C, the Cyclades and Dodecanese 19–34°C, Rhodes 24–36°C, and Crete 21–37°C, locally up to 38°C.

Winds will blow from the west-southwest at 3–5 Beaufort, reaching 6 Beaufort in the southern seas.

In Athens, the day will be sunny and hot, with variable winds 2–4 Beaufort, strengthening slightly in the afternoon. The temperature in the city center will range from 22°C to 37°C.

In Thessaloniki, conditions will be mostly clear with a few midday and afternoon clouds. Winds will remain light and variable, 2–4 Beaufort, with temperatures between 20°C and 35°C.

Overall, Friday will be a hot summer day across Greece, ideal for beachgoers but with caution advised due to dust transport and intense heat in several inland regions.
