The Greek government is set to open the MyThermansi online platform in November, allowing households to apply for the 2025–2026 heating allowance, a seasonal subsidy designed to help offset the cost of energy during the winter months.
According to the announcement, payments will be made in three installments between December 2025 and July 2026, depending on the type and quantity of fuel used.
- The first payment is expected in early December, with an advance to be issued by December 23, ahead of Christmas.
- The second installment will follow by May 30, 2026, and the final one by July 30, 2026.
Income and property criteria
Eligibility for the allowance is determined by income and asset thresholds:
- €16,000 for single individuals or widows/widowers.
- €24,000 for married couples or partners in a civil union.
- €29,000 for single-parent families, with additional allowances per child.
Property limits are also applied:
- €200,000 for single applicants.
- €260,000 for married couples without children, with an extra €40,000 per dependent child.
Types of heating covered
The allowance applies to individuals using a range of heating methods, including:
- Heating oil and kerosene
- Firewood
- Biomass (pellets)
- LPG (liquefied petroleum gas)
- Natural gas
- District heating systems
- Electricity
Each recipient can receive the subsidy for only one type of heating fuel.
The heating allowance is one of several measures the Greek government continues to implement to ease the financial strain of energy costs on households, particularly during the colder months.
