A 30-year-old mother of two in Greece has filed a lawsuit against a plastic surgeon, claiming that a breast augmentation she underwent in February 2024 resulted in severe deformities, infection, and emotional trauma.
The woman says she paid €5,000 in cash, allegedly without receiving a receipt, for silicone implants that the doctor assured her were “perfectly suitable” for her body type. But the outcome, she said, was disastrous.
“My breasts were completely deformed,” she said. “One was visibly larger and the other was square-shaped instead of round. The implants were clearly too big.”
Pain, infection, and failed corrective surgery
What began as a cosmetic issue quickly became a medical emergency. The woman reported intense pain for six months, which led to a second operation — again performed by the same surgeon — that she says only worsened her condition.
“He admitted the first surgery was terrible,” she recalled. “He told me, ‘I don’t know how I did this. I’ll fix it myself.’ But after the second surgery, I left the hospital with open wounds and later learned I had a staphylococcus infection.”
The patient said her body was left covered in scars. “It’s the most horrible result you can imagine,” she said. “Even my husband can’t look at me. It destroyed my self-esteem, my sex life, everything.”
“He butchered me like a butcher”
Describing her experience as “a living nightmare,” the woman said she repeatedly begged the surgeon to repair her wounds or at least reduce the scarring. “I called him again and again,” she said. “I told him, ‘Please, just fix the scars with a laser.’ But he never picked up the phone.”
For months, she says, her wounds remained open, making everyday life unbearable. “Even during my summer holidays, I couldn’t wear a swimsuit,” she added. “There was a layer of skin between my breasts. It didn’t even look human.”
Legal action and demand for justice
Her lawyer confirmed that the woman has filed a civil lawsuit at the Athens Court of First Instance, seeking a refund and compensation for emotional distress. “She not only wants her money back but also recognition of the immense moral damage she has suffered,” he said.
Further action may follow before the Greek Medical Association and possibly in criminal court, depending on the investigation’s outcome.
A cautionary tale
The woman said her experience has left her physically and emotionally scarred. “I never imagined that trying to improve my appearance would destroy my confidence and my body,” she said. “I just want justice so that no other woman goes through what I did.”
