A 4.7 magnitude earthquake struck near Kalamata, in southern Greece, on Thursday just before 1:00 PM, local time, according to the Geodynamic Institute.

The seismic event occurred 11 kilometers northwest of Messini, with a focal depth of 23 kilometers. The tremor was strongly felt throughout the region of Messinia and in neighboring areas.

No immediate reports of damage or injuries were available at the time of the report.
