A 46-year-old man from Stylida, central Greece, was sent to prison Monday afternoon after being convicted of attacking a minor and threatening the child and his mother with a pocketknife.
The incident took place Sunday afternoon in a central area, outside the home where the minor and his 36-year-old mother live.
According to the woman’s complaint, the 46-year-old approached the pair and, without any prior incident, struck the child in the face. He then pulled out a folding pocketknife and threatened both the minor and his mother.
The 36-year-old immediately notified the Stylida Police Department. Officers rushed to the scene, gathered information about the man’s appearance and began searching for him.
A few hours later, at around 9:30 p.m., the 46-year-old was located. During a police check, he handed the folding pocketknife to officers, and it was confiscated.
Three-year prison sentence without suspension
After the preliminary investigation was completed and the mother gave her statement, the 46-year-old was arrested and referred to prosecutors on charges of causing bodily harm to a vulnerable person and violating weapons laws.
Monday afternoon, he appeared before the Lamia Single-Member Misdemeanor Court. The court found him guilty and sentenced him to three years in prison without suspension.
