Man Critically Injured After Falling onto Train Tracks in Athens

A serious incident disrupted train services in Athens on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, when a man fell onto the tracks of the suburban railway from a pedestrian bridge. The fall occurred between Nea Ionia and Iraklio stations in the Attica region, causing significant disruption.

Emergency teams, including firefighters, police, and paramedics, were immediately dispatched to the scene. The man was transported to Gennimatas Hospital, where he is reported to be in critical condition.

As a result of the incident, several stations—Perissos, Pefkakia, Nea Ionia, and Iraklio—are temporarily out of service while authorities investigate and ensure the safety of the railway.
