One month after the double murder at a campsite in Finikounda, in southern Greece, investigators are reportedly closing in on those believed to have orchestrated the deadly attack. The victims were the 68-year-old owner of the campsite and his caretaker, both fatally shot in what police suspect was a planned execution.
Authorities continue to piece together the events that led to the killings and are trying to determine which of the two 22-year-old suspects currently in pre-trial detention pulled the trigger — and who may have ordered the murders.
Despite weeks of investigation, many questions remain unanswered.
New Testimony From Victim’s Relative
According to information reported by Greek media, the 33-year-old nephew of the campsite owner was called in again on Tuesday morning to provide a supplementary statement, as gaps and inconsistencies persist in the case file.
Investigators have lifted phone communication privacy restrictions, seeking to verify whether new evidence aligns with existing witness testimonies. They are currently reviewing all calls, including those made from so-called “Pakistani mobile phones,” which are often used anonymously and are harder to trace.
Possible New Suspect
Authorities are also examining the possible involvement of another individual, believed to have acted either as an accomplice or as the mastermind behind the murders.
Meanwhile, reports suggest that the niece of the 33-year-old nephew — the man who survived the attack — had previously sent him extrajudicial notices, adding another layer of complexity to the already tangled family and business relationships surrounding the case.
The investigation remains ongoing, as police analyze the new testimony and communication data in hopes of identifying who ultimately ordered and carried out the killings.
