New Video Evidence Emerges in Double Murder Case in Finikounda

Authorities investigate possible accomplices as phone records and revealing video shed light on the movements of the two 22-year-old suspects involved in the campsite killings

Greek police and judicial authorities are closing in on the details surrounding a double murder at a campsite in Finikounda, Messinia, piecing together evidence to reconstruct the events of the crime.

Investigators are examining the telephone records of everyone involved to clarify the timeline and uncover any potential accomplices beyond the two 22-year-old men already in custody. Authorities are also scrutinizing discrepancies in the statements of the alleged accomplice.

In a striking development, video footage obtained by Mega shows one of the 22-year-old suspects appearing calm and unconcerned in the city of Kalamata just hours after the murders. The video depicts him eating, drinking coffee, and walking past dozens of people, contrary to his claim that he swam for seven hours and walked fourteen hours to reach Kalamata alone. His clothing in the footage—white shorts, a light blue shirt, a black motorcycle jacket, and a crossbody bag—differs from what he reportedly wore at the campsite.

Giorgos Kalliakmanis, honorary President of the Association of Police Officers in Southeast Attica, told Mega that further arrest warrants are expected. He suggested that someone may have assisted the suspect’s travel to Kalamata and raised questions about a potential delay of one hour and twenty minutes between sightings at a junction and the murders, indicating possible hiding or coordination.

Authorities also reported that the two suspects separated near the residence of the nephew of the 68-year-old victim immediately following the killings.
