Over 193 kg of Cannabis Seized by Greek Police

The car bore German license plates, and authorities found and confiscated 125 packages of unprocessed cannabis.

Police seized over 193 kilos of unprocessed cannabis during a car chase in the region of Ioannina in northwestern Greece on Sunday night.

The pursuit took place on the old national highway from Ioannina to Kozani, a few kilometers outside the town of Konitsa, when the suspicious vehicle made a sudden U-turn after noticing a routine police block ahead.

During his attempt to escape, he lost control of the vehicle, causing it to veer off course and come to a halt. The man escaped under the cover of night.

During the inspection of the vehicle, which bore German license plates, authorities found and confiscated 125 packages of unprocessed cannabis, with a total weight of 193 kilograms and 212 grams.

The vehicle was seized, while the investigation by the Drug Enforcement Department, in collaboration with the Forensic Investigations Unit of the General Regional Police Directorate of Epirus, is ongoing to locate the driver.
