Police Arrest Gang for Illegal Cannabis Cultivation in Arta

The individuals arrested in connection with the case will be brought before the Prosecutor's Office of the Court of First Instance in Arta

Police arrested four individuals for the illegal cultivation of cannabis trees in a rural area near the town of Arta in northwestern Greece.

According to the police report, officers of the Department of Criminal Investigation and Prosecution in Arta, utilizing intelligence, were led to a land clearing near the town of Arta, hidden by thick greenery, where they discovered cannabis trees.

Two foreign suspects tasked with overseeing the cannabis plant were arrested on Friday morning, the police report says.

Two other individuals, one Greek and another foreign national, were also arrested later at their homes. Following police questioning, it was revealed that they acted as the leaders of the group.

During a search of the plantation site, authorities discovered and confiscated a nursery containing 374 cannabis plants in pots. An additional 645 cannabis saplings, which had been planted in the ground, were uprooted and seized. Equipment used for the cultivation of the plantation was also confiscated.

The individuals arrested in connection with the case will be brought before the Prosecutor’s Office of the Court of First Instance in Arta. They are facing charges of violating drug laws and setting up a gang.
