A 68-year-old man described as a high-ranking figure in the Russian-speaking organized crime world was arrested in Komotini, northern Greece, Greek police said.
The man reportedly holds the honorary title Vor V Zakone, or “Thief in Law,” a designation associated with senior figures in Russian-speaking organized crime.
Weapons found hidden in home
During a search of the 68-year-old’s home, police said they found and seized several items that had been carefully concealed.
They included:
- A handgun with a magazine containing seven rounds
- A grenade without its detonator, along with the grenade’s detonator
- A spare handgun magazine containing one round
- 66 rounds of ammunition and two shotgun shells
- A metal dagger with a sheath
- Two mobile phones
Police said their investigation established that the suspect held the Vor V Zakone, or “Thief in Law,” title.
The man had previously been charged in Germany with participation in a criminal organization, according to police.
He is expected to be brought before the appropriate prosecutor.
