Second FDI Frigate ‘Nearchos’ Undergoing Sea Trials

A second Belharra-type (FDI) frigate acquired by the Hellenic Navy from France’s Naval Group, the “Nearchos”, began sea trials in the Atlantic on Wednesday.

According to sources with shipbuilder Naval Group, mostly propulsion, safety systems and electronic sensors are now being tested in real-time situations.

The same sources explained that shortly before the new frigate is delivered to the Hellenic Navy, its crewmembers will undergo training at the Lorient shipyard.

Greece has ordered a total of four such state-of-the-art warships for its navy.
