Seven wildfire fronts were active across Greece on Monday afternoon, with one blaze earlier east of Athens proper initially causing concern but later reported as under control.
Notifications via the 112 SMS platform were issued earlier by civil defense authorities to warn residents in affected areas to remain vigilant or to even evacuate.
The wildfire at the Kallitechnoupoli settlement generated a major fire-fighting response, given that the hilly region and single-home residential zone has in the past yielded destructive and even deadly blazes.
More than 130 fire-fighters operating 31 vehicles and 16 water-dropping aircraft were dispatched to the scene.
Further south, in Argolida prefecture, a wildfire near the settlement of Skotini was under control. In western Greece, a blaze at the Trelagatha site was mostly under control, with a notification first sent to local residents.
Another two blazes were also reported in the same area, Aitoloakarnania prefecture.

Meanwhile, a wildfire in a mixed agriculture-forest area near the settlement of Volvi, in Thessaloniki prefecture, raged for hours on Monday.
Another wildfire was reported at the ancient Nemea district in the northeast Peloponnese, in southern Greece.
Several regions in the country were on high alert for Tuesday due to high temperatures, arid soil conditions and gusty winds.
