Stormy Weather Lingers Over the Aegean on Wednesday

Local rain and thunderstorms will affect parts of Greece, especially the central, eastern, and southern Aegean, while temperatures remain unusually low for early October.

Greece will continue to experience unsettled weather on Wednesday, with scattered rain and thunderstorms across several regions. Local showers are expected over central, eastern, and northern parts of the mainland, while stronger storms will develop in Thrace. Rain and thunderstorms will also affect the Aegean islands and Crete, with the most intense conditions expected in the Cyclades, the eastern Aegean islands, and the Dodecanese. Weather conditions will gradually improve in most mainland areas from midday and in the Aegean islands later in the afternoon.

Temperatures will remain low for the season, ranging from 5–13°C in Western Macedonia, 7–18°C in the rest of Macedonia and Thrace, 8–21°C in Thessaly, 7–19°C in Epirus, 9–21°C in the rest of the mainland, 10–20°C in the Ionian Islands, 12–19°C across most Aegean islands, and 12–23°C in Crete.

Strong northwesterly winds will continue in the Ionian Sea, reaching 6–7 Beaufort, while in the Aegean, northwesterly winds will blow at 5–6 Beaufort. In the southern Aegean, westerly winds of similar strength will prevail.

In Athens, partly to mostly cloudy skies are expected, with occasional increases in cloud cover but no significant rainfall. Winds will blow from the northwest at 3–5 Beaufort, and temperatures will range between 12 and 19°C.

In Thessaloniki, cloudy skies will bring a few morning showers before clearing later in the day. Northwesterly winds will reach 4–5 Beaufort, and temperatures will range from 10 to 16°C.
