Summer Quiet Hours Rules Change From April 1

New seasonal regulations on noise levels come into effect across the country, introducing stricter limits during midday and nighttime hours to protect public peace

A new set of rules governing “quiet hours” will come into effect on April 1, 2026, marking the start of the summer schedule aimed at reducing noise pollution and protecting public tranquility.

The summer quiet hours regime will remain in force until September 30, 2026, introducing specific time windows during which noisy activities are restricted.

When summer quiet hours apply

Under the regulations, midday quiet hours run from 3:00 PM to 5:30 PM, while nighttime quiet hours are in effect from 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM.

During these periods, activities that generate excessive noise are prohibited in both residential and public spaces.

What is not allowed

The rules cover a wide range of noise-producing actions, including the use of loud music systems, televisions, and radios at high volume, as well as loud conversations and gatherings in homes or public areas.

Restrictions also apply to street noise, disruptive behavior in public transport, and loud activities in cafes or public venues. The loading and unloading of goods that create disturbance is also prohibited, along with unnecessary use of vehicle horns or sirens.

Exceptions for essential services

Certain urgent public service operations are exempt from the restrictions, provided they are approved by the relevant local police authority.
