Sunny Skies Dominate Greece with Strong Aegean Winds Friday

Warm, mostly clear conditions will prevail across Greece on Friday, with temperatures reaching up to 39°C in parts of the Aegean and strong northerly winds creating choppy seas, especially in the central and southern Aegean.

Friday will bring plenty of sunshine across Greece, with only a few clouds interrupting the clear skies. Cloud cover will be more noticeable over northern Crete, as well as in Macedonia, Epirus, and Thessaly during the midday and afternoon hours, particularly in mountainous areas. No significant rainfall is expected, making it an excellent day for outdoor activities in most regions.

Temperatures will continue to rise slightly. Northern Greece will see readings from 23°C to 37°C (17°C to 32°C in Western Macedonia), while Central and Southern Greece will range from 25°C to 35°C, with Thessaly peaking at 37°C. Western Greece will experience 23°C to 38°C, while the Cyclades and Crete will be cooler, between 25°C and 32°C. The Eastern Aegean Islands will see the highest temperatures of the day, from 25°C to 39°C, and the Dodecanese will range between 21°C and 37°C.

Winds in the Aegean Sea will blow from the north at moderate to strong levels (5–6 Beaufort), becoming near-gale force (7 Beaufort) in the central Aegean and the southern seas around Crete, which could impact ferry schedules and sea travel. In the Ionian Sea, winds will start light and variable, turning northwesterly from midday and briefly reaching 4–5 Beaufort.

In Athens, sunny weather will prevail with temperatures between 27°C and 34°C, slightly cooler in the northern and eastern suburbs. Northerly winds will be moderate to strong at 5–6 Beaufort, reaching near-gale force 7 Beaufort in eastern Attica.

Thessaloniki will also enjoy mostly sunny conditions, with some afternoon cloud build-up over surrounding hills. Temperatures will range from 28°C to 37°C, and winds in the Thermaic Gulf will be light and variable, briefly turning northwesterly at 4 Beaufort in the morning.

For visitors, Friday promises excellent conditions for sightseeing, swimming, and island-hopping—though those traveling in the Aegean should plan for potentially rough seas due to the strong northerly winds.
