A shocking incident of youth violence unfolded in the early hours of August 15 on the Greek island of Spetses, leaving an 18-year-old seriously injured after a brutal beating.
According to witness accounts, the altercation between two groups of young people escalated over a girl. The fight quickly turned violent, with the victim sustaining severe injuries, including a broken jaw. The alleged attacker fled the scene, while the injured teen was taken to the island’s health center.
Medical examinations later confirmed the extent of his injuries: a fractured jaw, hearing damage in his right ear, and extensive head trauma. The following day, he sought further treatment at a private clinic in Athens.
Initially, the teenager did not press charges. However, his father later filed a complaint at the Amarousio police station in Athens. The case has since been forwarded to the prosecutor, who has classified it as attempted homicide.
The outcome of the investigation now hinges on the forensic examiner’s report, which will determine how the injuries were inflicted and assess their severity.
The incident has raised concerns about escalating violence among youths in Greece, particularly when personal disputes spiral into life-threatening confrontations.
