Three Injured After Car Plows into Grocery Store in Western Athens Suburb

A serious traffic accident occurred earlier this afternoon in the Athens suburb of Nikaia, when a car veered off course and crashed into a supermarket, injuring two minors and a store employee

According to initial reports, a vehicle veered off course earlier this afternoon and crashed into the front of a supermarket. The car reportedly broke through the main entrance and ended up near the store’s checkout area.

The accident is believed to have been caused by the driver losing control due to distraction. Three people were injured—two children, aged 7 and 1, and a store employee. All were promptly transported to hospital by EKAV ambulances.

The 7-year-old sustained more serious injuries to the abdomen and chest, while the cashier suffered orthopedic injuries. The children were taken to the Agia Sofia Children’s Hospital, and the 45-year-old employee was transferred to Laiko General Hospital.

Traffic police arrived swiftly on the scene, and an investigation into the circumstances of the crash is ongoing.
