Toddler Suffers Severe Burns in Central Greece Accident

The child is in critical condition after suffering extensive burns from hot oil at home in central Greece, as doctors in Larissa fight to stabilize the toddler’s condition

An 18-month-old child is in critical condition after suffering severe burns in a household accident in central Greece, according to local media reports. The incident occurred on Saturday morning while the child’s mother was cooking in the family’s kitchen.

Greek public broadcaster ERT reported that the toddler accidentally touched or pulled a frying pan filled with hot oil, resulting in burns covering about 15 percent of the child’s body. The toddler was first taken to a hospital in Karditsa but was later transferred to the University Hospital of Larissa due to the severity of the injuries.

During treatment, the child went into cardiac arrest but was successfully resuscitated by doctors. The toddler remains intubated in the intensive care unit, with their condition described as extremely critical. Medical staff are closely monitoring the situation and considering a transfer to a specialized hospital in Athens, though the child’s fragile health has so far prevented the move.
