Two French nationals were rescued on Sunday from a sailing yacht in distress off the coast of Mykonos, following a large-scale operation by the Hellenic Coast Guard.
The incident occurred three nautical miles south of the small island of Rineia, when the yacht experienced severe difficulties due to strong winds affecting the area. The vessel issued an SOS signal, prompting immediate action by the Joint Search and Rescue Coordination Centre.
The rescue effort included a Super Puma helicopter from the Hellenic Air Force, two tugboats, and a vessel from the Hellenic Rescue Team.
Both passengers were found unharmed and transported safely to Naoussa, on the nearby island of Paros.
Authorities continue to remain alert as high winds persist across the Cyclades.
