A violent incident in Agios Nikolaos, Crete, has raised concerns over youth violence after two minors assaulted a 16-year-old on Saturday afternoon.
According to local reports, the confrontation began in a central area of the town when a 15-year-old and a 16-year-old got into a heated dispute with the victim. The argument quickly escalated into a physical attack, leaving the 16-year-old injured.
Emergency services rushed the teenager to the local hospital, where he received treatment. Authorities confirmed that his injuries were serious but not life-threatening.
Police quickly intervened, arresting both minors responsible for the assault. In a rare move, the authorities also arrested the parents of the attackers, citing child neglect and their potential role in enabling the violence. The minors now face charges of assault and causing bodily harm to a minor.
