Public Urged to Avoid Fire-Starting Activities Outdoors
Officials are strongly advising the public to take extra precautions and refrain from any activity that could inadvertently spark a fire. This includes burning dry grass or branches, using outdoor grills, welding or grinding tools that create sparks, and discarding lit cigarettes in nature.
The Fire Department has activated its Stage 2 emergency readiness plan, which includes increased aerial surveillance and joint ground patrols by firefighters, police, and military forces.
Restricted Access to Forests and National Parks
In high-risk areas, access to national forests, parks, and fire-sensitive zones may be temporarily restricted. The public is encouraged to stay informed via the Fire Department’s website and social media channels and to immediately report any signs of fire by calling emergency number 199.
The Civil Protection Authority also reminds residents that burning fields is strictly prohibited during fire season and that fire safety protocols must be followed at all times.
