Greek authorities have issued a high wildfire risk warning for Wednesday, with several regions across the country placed under Category 4 (very high danger) on the official Fire Risk Forecast Map published by the General Secretariat for Civil Protection.
Areas under the highest alert include Attica, parts of Central Greece (Boeotia and Evia), North Aegean islands (Lesvos, Chios, Ikaria), the South Aegean (Karpathos), and much of Crete (Rethymno, Heraklion, and Lasithi).
Citizens are urged to avoid any outdoor activities that could accidentally trigger a blaze. These include burning dry grass or branches, using machinery that produces sparks, operating outdoor grills, smoking out beehives, or discarding lit cigarettes.
