A wildfire erupted early Saturday morning, July 19, near the town of Koropi in eastern Attica, prompting an immediate response from fire services.
According to official reports, the blaze started in a semi-rural forested area along a service road adjacent to the Attiki Odos highway. The fire quickly mobilized firefighting authorities, with significant resources dispatched to the scene.
A total of 36 firefighters, supported by 14 fire engines, volunteers, and two water-dropping helicopters, have been deployed in the area. Local government tanker trucks (OTA) are also assisting in the effort to contain the fire.
The Fire Service confirmed the deployment through an official announcement, stating that the operation is ongoing and all available resources are being used to prevent the spread of the flames.
There are no immediate reports of injuries or threats to residential areas, but authorities remain on high alert due to the risk of flare-ups in the dry and windy conditions.
