Young Driver Survives 15-Meter Fall in Evia Crash

A 22-year-old man fell down a 15-meter cliff after his car veered off a coastal road near Chalkida. Five firefighters used a stretcher to bring him back to the road under extremely difficult conditions

A 22-year-old driver survived a 15-meter fall after his car veered off a coastal road in Evia, Greece, on Wednesday morning.

The serious crash occurred around 7 a.m. on the coastal road from Glyfa toward Chalkida, when the young man’s vehicle left the roadway under circumstances that remain unclear.

The car came to rest at the edge of a cliff. As the driver attempted to get out of the vehicle, he fell over the edge and into the ravine.

Firefighters carried him back to the road

Firefighters from the Chalkida Fire Service rushed to the scene. Five firefighters managed to reach the young man and carry him back up to the road on a stretcher, despite the extremely difficult conditions.

The 22-year-old was conscious and had visible injuries to his head.

An ambulance from Greece’s National Center for Emergency Care (EKAB), which was at the scene, immediately transported him to Chalkida Hospital for medical evaluation.
