Fifteen Killed in Lisbon Gloria Funicular Rail Crash

Lisbon’s iconic Gloria funicular, a popular attraction for tourists, derailed and crashed, leaving at least 15 people dead and 18 others injured.

The funicular connects the Restauradores and Príncipe Real districts in the Portuguese capital and is frequently used by visitors. According to reports, five of the injured are in serious condition, while 13 others—including a 3-year-old child—sustained lighter injuries. Seven victims were transported to São Jose Hospital, while two others were taken to Santa Maria Hospital.
