he foreign ministers of the Group of Seven (G7) have pledged to take action to safeguard global energy supplies, as rising geopolitical tensions threaten key transport routes and infrastructure.
In a joint statement issued on Saturday, the ministers said they are ready to implement “necessary measures” to support the stability of energy markets. They also stressed the importance of protecting critical maritime corridors, with particular focus on the Strait of Hormuz — one of the world’s most vital oil transit routes.
The statement comes amid escalating concerns over security in the wider Middle East region, where recent developments have raised fears of disruptions to energy flows.
G7 members — Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States — along with the European Union’s top diplomat, voiced support for regional partners facing ongoing threats.
They strongly condemned attacks attributed to Iran and its allies, describing them as unjustifiable and dangerous. The ministers also denounced strikes targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure, including facilities linked to energy production and distribution.
The G7 emphasized that maintaining secure and open shipping routes is essential for global economic stability, warning that any disruption could have far-reaching consequences for international energy markets.
