UPD—The meeting between U.S. envoys Steve Wikoff and Jared Kushner with President Vladimir Putin at the Kremlin has ended after nearly 5 hours, according to CNN.

A meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump’s advisers, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, with President Vladimir Putin is underway at the Kremlin in Moscow.

Trump’s advisers will attempt to convince Putin to back an updated draft peace plan they and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio hammered out in Miami during a meeting with a Ukrainian delegation.

The Kremlin meeting comes hours after Putin levelled threats against Europe, warning that Russia was ready for a war with Europe if its leaders wanted it.

“We will not fight Europe, but if it wants war with us, we are ready,” the Russian president said on Tuesday.

He attributed to the European countries the role of obstructing U.S. efforts for peace, adding that “they do not have a peaceful agenda.”

At the same time, he warned of retaliatory actions against Ukrainian ports and ships following Kyiv’s strikes on Russian tankers, stating, “Russia will intensify its attacks on Ukrainian ports and any ships entering them.”
