Israel Targets Hamas Leaders in Doha Strike

Multiple explosions shook Doha as Israel carried out a strike against senior Hamas officials in Qatar. Hamas leaders reportedly survived, while Qatar condemned the attack as a violation of international law and confirmed an investigation is underway

Israel launched an airstrike in Qatar’s capital on Tuesday targeting senior Hamas officials, eyewitnesses told Reuters. Several explosions were heard in the Katara district of Doha, with smoke rising over the area, as reported in Reuters.

According to Israeli media, the strike was aimed at top Hamas figures, including Khalil al-Hayya, veteran leader Khaled Mashaal, and Zaher Jabarin, who is considered a key financier of the group. Hamas said its members survived the attack.

Al-Katara is reportedly home to Hamas leadership offices. Axios news agency suggested that the blasts could be part of an operation targeting a senior Hamas official.

Al Jazeera, citing a Hamas source, reported that the strike targeted members of the organization’s negotiating team who were holding a meeting in Doha. Foreign outlets noted at least six powerful blasts across the city, though the extent of damage remains unclear.

The Israel Defense Forces confirmed the strike, saying it was conducted jointly with the Shin Bet internal security service and was directed against Hamas’s senior leadership, without specifying the exact location. Israeli officials told local media that U.S. President Donald Trump had given the green light for the operation.

Qatar strongly condemned what it called a “cowardly Israeli attack” and said the strike constituted a “blatant violation of international law.” Authorities added that a high-level investigation is ongoing.

Hamas has not yet issued an official response.
