The English actor, famous for playing Frank-N-Furter and Pennywise, has died, his manager confirmed to CBS

English actor Tim Curry, best known for playing the flamboyant Frank-N-Furter in the cult film musical The Rocky Horror Picture Show, has died at age 80.

Curry originated the role on stage before starring in the 1975 film version, which went on to become a lasting cult classic.

He was also known for playing the menacing clown Pennywise in the 1990 TV adaptation of Stephen King’s It, and for voicing Long John Silver in 1996’s Muppet Treasure Island.

His other film credits included The Hunt for Red October and Home Alone 2, and he received three Tony Award nominations for his work on Broadway.

Curry’s manager confirmed his death to CBS, the BBC’s US news partner.
