The Federal Bureau of Investigation has released images of a “person of interest” in connection with the investigation into Wednesday’s fatal shooting of Charlie Kirk on stage at Utah Valley University. Kirk, 31 years old, was one of the most influential figures on the right who founded and served as CEO of Turning Point USA, a powerful conservative youth organization. He played a prominent role in Trump’s outreach to young voters during the 2024 election.

The shooter is still at large. Authorities believe the shooting suspect is of college age, but cautioned that the investigation is in its early stages.
A high-powered rifle, including ammunition engraved with transgender and antifascist ideology, was recovered in a wooded area where the suspected shooter fled. Investigators say it is unclear how far the suspect might have traveled overnight.
President Trump is set to speak with the Kirk family today, as Vice President JD Vance visits Utah to pay his respects. Kirk was married to Erika Kirk and had two young children. He lived in Arizona where his organization Turning Point is based.
The Kirk shooting renewed a fight between the parties over which actions might reduce violence.
