Greece’s Minister of National Economy and Finance, Kyriakos Pierrakakis, is in the United States this week to take part in the Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank in Washington, D.C.

At the top of this year’s agenda, IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva has placed the theme “Opportunities in a Time of Change,” reflecting the sweeping transformations and challenges facing the global economy.

During his stay in Washington, Pierrakakis will attend the IMF Board of Governors plenary session and deliver a keynote address at a public discussion organized by the IMF’s New Economy Forum. His speech, titled “Strategies for the Future: Digitizing the Economy and Artificial Intelligence,” will focus on the role of innovation and technology in shaping sustainable growth.

The Greek minister will also be among the principal speakers at a working dinner of European finance ministers with IMF Managing Director Georgieva, where discussions will center on Europe’s strategic role in a rapidly evolving multilateral system.

In addition, he will take part in the 14th Ministerial Meeting of the Coalition of Finance Ministers for Climate Action, which will explore how economic policy can strengthen resilience to the climate crisis.

On the sidelines of the IMF meetings, Pierrakakis will hold bilateral talks with senior IMF officials, heads of major banking and investment groups, foreign counterparts, and institutional leaders. He will also participate in events focused on global economic developments and Greece’s economic trajectory.

In all his engagements, Pierrakakis is expected to emphasize a consistent message: that amid global uncertainty and volatility, the Greek economy remains resilient and on a steady upward path. Greece, he will underline, stands as an attractive investment destination and a pillar of political, fiscal, and regional stability.
