A major political and foreign-policy conference will take place in Athens on Thursday and Friday, bringing together senior Greek officials and prominent international figures to discuss security, diplomacy and economic change in the Eastern Mediterranean.
The event, titled “Athens Policy Dialogues – The Eastern Mediterranean in flux”, is co-organized by To Vima newspaper, the Council for International Relations, and the Delphi Economic Forum. It will be held at the King George Hotel in central Athens.
Senior Greek and international speakers
Among the headline speakers are Greece’s President, the country’s Prime Minister, the leader of the main opposition party, and a former president. International attendees include former Egyptian foreign ministers, regional security experts, and representatives from institutions specializing in Middle East and Eurasia affairs.
The conference program also features Greece’s foreign minister, two deputy foreign ministers, former Greek foreign ministers, and senior government advisers. Leading voices from Cyprus will participate as well, including its former energy and trade minister.
Greek experts in security, defense, banking, education and public policy are also scheduled to take part, contributing to discussions from a domestic perspective.
Key topics: Gaza, regional security, and energy
The agenda centers on major geopolitical shifts in the region. Panels will address peace efforts in Gaza, the search for a new security framework in the Middle East, and the impact of recent diplomatic agreements involving regional powers.
Speakers will examine great-power competition in the Eastern Mediterranean—including the roles of the European Union, the United States, Russia and China—alongside discussions on the Cyprus issue and its importance for regional stability. Sessions will also explore economic prospects emerging from a changing energy landscape.
Athens as a regional forum
Organizers say the conference aims to foster substantive dialogue on politics, security and economic strategy, highlighting Athens as an international hub for discussions on the Mediterranean’s evolving future.
The full program will be streamed live on tovima.gr and tovima.com, and attendees can register online through the organizers’ platforms.
