Under Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Greece’s Government Council for National Security (KYSEA) held a session focused on national defense and security priorities, including armament programs and strategic planning.

The council approved key defense procurement programs for the Hellenic Armed Forces and reviewed the SAFE program, ensuring alignment with the approved 2025–2036 Long-Term Defense Armament Planning. Officials also received updates on innovation initiatives within the armed forces and the ongoing activities of the Hellenic Defense Systems Authority (ELKAK).

Participants in the meeting included the Prime Minister, the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, National Defense, Citizen Protection, Migration and Asylum, Shipping and Island Policy, Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, and the Chief of the Hellenic National Defense General Staff.

The session underscores Greece’s focus on strengthening its military capabilities, integrating strategic defense initiatives like SAFE, and ensuring that procurement programs and technological developments meet both current and future security needs.
