Greek Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis held a teleconference on March 1 with the heads of Greece’s embassies and consulates in Iran and across the Middle East, according to an official statement from the Foreign Ministry.
During the meeting, the minister was briefed on the extremely challenging conditions on the ground. Discussions focused primarily on the safety of Greek citizens in the region, their accommodation, and the management of repatriation requests submitted through a dedicated platform activated for each diplomatic mission.
Gerapetritis instructed officials to prepare for the immediate and safe return of all citizens wishing to leave, as soon as air traffic is restored. He also called on Greece’s diplomatic missions to remain on full alert and to maintain constant communication with members of the Greek community in the affected areas.
