The latest opinion poll by Metron Analysis for Mega Channel gives New Democracy (ND) a 13.6% percentage point lead, in an extrapolation of results, despite posting losses compared to results of a poll by the same firm the previous month.
The ruling party maintains a clear advantage over main opposition PASOK party, which has not significantly benefited from the former’s decline, posting an increase of less than one percentage point in voters’ preferences.
In terms of the latter, ND is given 21.5% (down 2 percentage points); PASOK: 11.3%; the Course of Freedom (Plefsi Eleftherias) party 7.8%; Elliniki Lysi (Greek Solution) 7.7%; the Communist Party 6.3% and leftist SYRIZA: 4%.
In an extrapolation of the results, ND posts 28.6% and PASOK 15%.
Two smaller parties appear to exceed the parliamentary threshold of 3%, namely, the right-wing Voice of Reason party with 3.5%, and Yanis Varoufakis’ left-wing MeRA25 with 3.1%.
Among the poll’s highlights are the fact that Maria Karystianou now receives more negative than positive opinions, with only 10% of respondents saying they are very likely to vote for her, and 17% fairly likely.
Former parliament president and Plefsi Eleftherias party founder Zoe Konstantopoulou leads in popularity among political leaders, with 35%.
Incumbent PM Kyriakos Mitsotakis remains the most suitable as prime minister, according to respondents, with 26%, far ahead of other rivals.
According to results of the poll, the cost of living is the top concern, followed by the economy and institutional issues.
A large majority, 78%, believe Greece benefits from participation in the European Public Prosecutor’s Office.
