The second part of a MRB opinion poll, released on Friday, shows a majority of respondents in favor of holding general elections until a majority government is achieved.

In the poll, presented by an Athens-based television station, more than one in four respondents (26.9%) said they are in favor of repeat elections until a majority emerges, while a large percentage remain undecided (31.7%).

Support for former prime minister Alexis Tsipras and the prospect of the latter forming a new political party continues to show a downward trend, with his potential support in any coming general elections marginally below 21%, while at the same time the undecided portion reaches 5.9%.

With the exception of respondents who said they vote for ruling New Democracy party, the overwhelming majority respondents in the poll said they believe there is a need for a new party to emerge.

The poll comes as Tsipras’ book of memoirs from his rule, entitled “Ithaca,” will be released in a few days.

A significant percentage of respondents, 44.2%, believe that the publication of the book will be detrimental to the ex-PM, while only 26% view it positively, a percentage smaller than those who unwilling to respond.

When asked whether they would vote for a Tsipras in the next election if he formed a party, 20.9% responded positively and 73.2% negatively.

When asked the same question about another former prime minister, conservative Antonis Samaras, 15.1% or respondents said they would consider voting for him.
