Pulse Poll: Continued ND Lead; Battle for Second Place

Ruling New Democracy (ND) party continues to field a comfortable lead over its nearest rivals, in the latest opinion poll results released on Thursday, specifically 15.5 percentage points.

The poll was conducted by the Pulse firm and presented on the prime-time newscast of Skai TV.

According to an extrapolation of the results, center-right ND is given 29%, with socialist/social democrat PASOK and Zoe Konstantopoulou’s Plefsi Eleftherias (Course of Freedom) dueling for second place, as both are calculated at 13.5%.

Elliniki Lysi (Greek Solution) comes in fourth with 9%, followed by the Communist Party (KKE) with 8% and leftist SYRIZA with 6.5%. No less than five lesser parties are near or above the 3% threshold (of valid votes in a general election) needed for Parliament representation.

In a timely question, 74% of respondents said they agreed with a constitutional revision to allow the evaluation and possible termination of civil servants.
