A large portion of Greeks appear disappointed in the manner opposition parties are exercising their duties against the government while they are skeptical about emerging political formations, according to a poll conducted by pollsters Interview for the website politics.gr.

The poll comes after recent rumors that former Prime Minister Antonis Samaras, who was expelled from ruling New Democracy, was considering launching a new party.

The percentage of those unconvinced about the effectiveness of the opposition parties ranges between 68% and 91%, with SYRIZA perceived as the least effective in fulfilling its duties.

Half of those surveyed (50%) in the poll view the creation of new political parties positively, while 47% are opposed to the idea—indicating no clear consensus on whether the political landscape should shift.

Populist right-wing party “Greek Solution” (Elliniki Lysi) and left-wing “Course of Freedom” (Plefsi Eletherias) stand out as the most effective in their duties. Garnering over 20% of approval by respondents, with 21% and 28%, respectively.

The Communist Party of Greece (KKE) holds 18% support, PASOK trails with 13%, and the top five is rounded out by Foni Logikis (Voice of Reason) at 10%.

Responding to what they thought about the possibility of former Prime Minister Antonis Samaras founding a new political movement, 73% of respondents expressed a negative opinion, while just 21% viewed the idea favorably.

Even among voters of the ruling New Democracy party, sentiment mirrored the general population: 83% opposed the formation of a new Samaras-led party, with only 14% in support.

These figures suggest that while the electorate is open to political renewal in theory, there is significant skepticism about certain political figures spearheading that change.

In terms of voting intentions, New Democracy appears to have consolidated its lead, maintaining support above the 30% threshold.

PASOK comes in second with 14.2%, followed by Plefsi Eleftherias (Course of Freedom) in third place with 11%. A close battle is unfolding for fourth place between Elliniki Lysi (Greek Solution) and the Communist Party of Greece (KKE).  SYRIZA trails in sixth place, marking a significant shift in the political landscape.

In total, four additional parties are also projected to enter Parliament, suggesting a fragmented yet dynamic parliamentary map heading into the next electoral cycle.
