In the wake of recent rapid developments in the main opposition party of SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance, a new poll conducted by the GPO pollsters for the “Parapolitika” newspaper, puts SYRIZA as the third political force in Greece.

The poll, which was carried out between November 13 and 15, 2023, encompassed a nationwide sample of 1,200 individuals and forecasted the dissolution of the leftist party.

This marks the second survey placing SYRIZA in the third position, with centrist PASOK securing the second spot. The ruling conservative party of New Democracy (ND) maintains its dominance in voter intention with 36 percent, followed by PASOK at 12.1 percent and SYRIZA at 11 percent. The Communist Party (KKE) recorded an upward trend at 8.9 percent, while undecided voters stand at 10.3 percent.

Amidst intense turbulence within SYRIZA’s internal landscape, public opinion appears fluid and evolving. Voters from the 2023 national elections seem divided on the impact of Stefanos Casselakis’s election as president, confirming the political rift within the party’s Central Committee.

Respondents (47.7 percent) chose ND leader and current PM Kyriakos Mitsotakis as their preferred choice to hold office, while the leader of PASOK, Nikos Androulakis gathered 13.5 percent, leaving Stefanos Casselakis 3rd with 11.6 percent. However, 22.6% believe none of the three is suitable for the position.
