A tragic accident unfolded in Igoumenitsa, Northwestern Greece, when an 11-year-old boy was struck and killed by a car while crossing the street near his family’s business. The boy, a fifth-grade student, had left school early due to feeling unwell and was dropped off by his mother to cross at the pedestrian crossing.
Witness Account of the Accident
Eyewitnesses described the horrifying scene: “The boy was under the car, and a man used a car jack to lift it so we could pull him out for the ambulance.”
Residents reported hearing cries for help throughout the neighborhood as emergency responders rushed to the scene.
One neighbor said: “I was in my office, and I saw the woman hit the child. He was crossing the street from the pedestrian crossing toward his parents’ shop.”
