13-Year-Old Boy Dies While Swimming in N. Greece Beach

A tragic incident unfolded on Sunday afternoon at the beach of Alykes Kitrous in Pieria prefecture, northern Greece, where a 13-year-old boy died after reportedly suffering a sudden medical episode while swimming.

According to information provided by the coast guard, the minor began feeling unwell shortly after entering the water and lost consciousness.

A doctor who happened to be nearby rushed to provide first aid and emergency services were immediately called. The youth was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital in the city of Katerini, where staff confirmed his death.

The incident is under investigation by the port authority in Skala Katerini.
