25-Year-Old Given Until Monday to Testify in Thessaloniki Arson Case

The suspect, arrested in Thessaloniki over the fatal gas-canister attack on the Nestora family home, will appear before an investigating magistrate on Monday as authorities continue probing the case.

A 25-year-old man arrested in connection with the deadly attack on the home of the Nestor family in Thessaloniki has been granted an extension to prepare his testimony and is expected to appear before an investigating magistrate on Monday.

The suspect was taken under police escort to the Thessaloniki Courthouse on Friday for the formal execution of the arrest warrant issued against him before being brought before the magistrate handling the investigation.

Authorities state that the 25-year-old’s involvement emerged during the testimony of the 24-year-old owner of the apartment reportedly used before and after the attack. According to information from the investigation, the 24-year-old identified him as the person to whom he handed over the keys to the apartment, located near the Nestor family’s residence.

Investigators believe the keys were later passed on to a 29-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman, who authorities consider the perpetrators of the fatal attack.

The 25-year-old and the 24-year-old are reportedly both university students and have known each other for several years.

The suspect, who is known to law enforcement and is reported to have links to the anti-establishment political scene, is the fourth person arrested in connection with the case. The apartment owner and the two perpetrators had been arrested earlier and were remanded in custody after giving their statements to the investigating magistrate.
