Two teenagers, an 18-year-old male and a 17-year-old female, died during car accident that occurred during the early hours of Christmas Day in the northern Athens district of Vrilissia, reports state.

According to police, the took place at around 5 a.m. when the vehicle veered off its course, first hitting a lane barrier and ending up crashed into a fence, resulting in the death of the two young people.

The fire brigade had to intervene with six firefighters in order to extricate the bodies

The police said that none of the two was wearing a set belt.

Another traffic accident occurred at dawn in the Perama district, west of Piraeus.

The two severely injured occupants of the vehicle were taken by the ambulance and transported to a local hospital.

Investigations are being conducted into the exact causes of the traffic accidents.
